Camp Ministry

Camps are a time of "inspiration and perspiration" for athletes and coaches to reach their potential by offering comprehensive athletic, spiritual and leadership training.

"Game Changer": 2011 Camp Theme

Theme Passage – Acts 2:36-47

"Therefore let all the house of Israel know with certainty that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah!"

Forgiveness through the Messiah

When they heard this, they came under deep conviction and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles: "Brothers, what must we do?"
"Repent," Peter said to them, "and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is for you and for your children, and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call." And with many other words he testified and strongly urged them, saying, "Be saved from this corrupt generation!"

A Generous and Growing Church

So those who accepted his message were baptized, and that day about 3,000 people were added to them. And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching, to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to the prayers. Then fear came over everyone, and many wonders and signs were being performed through the apostles. Now all the believers were together and held all things in common. They sold their possessions and property and distributed the proceeds to all, as anyone had a need. Every day they devoted themselves [to meeting] together in the temple complex, and broke bread from house to house. They ate their food with a joyful and humble attitude, praising God and having favor with all the people. And every day the Lord added to them those who were being saved.

Background to the Theme

There are moments in every game that determine the outcome. These plays are called gamechangers. Sometimes they are made by individuals or by a whole team pulling together to turn a game around in one play. These gamechangers always transform the entire momentum of the game.

The Bible is full of gamechanging moments that resulted in outstanding victories for God. Every Christian has his or her own spiritual gamechanging moments, such as accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and committing to begin and maintain daily Bible reading and prayer. It takes courage and confidence to make a play. Could this be the day that is a gamechanger in your life?

Day 1: Gamechanging Play

Accepting Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord is the #1 gamechanger in every person's life. The moment you make a commitment to Jesus Christ is the ultimate gamechanging play!

Day 2: Gamechanging Stance

It is critical in every sport to utilize a solid athletic stance; it is the same in our spiritual lives. We must understand who God is and who we are. The result is a gamechanging stance before God.

Day 3: Gamechanging Team

Every professional team is made up of players who were chosen to compete for championships. As a Christian, the decision to "draft" championship players to your team by surrounding yourself with other committed Christians is a gamechanger.

Day 4: Gamechanging Unleashed

All athletes, coaches and teams have performance goals. What is the goal of a Christian when it comes to his or her relationship with a world that needs to know Christ? The moment you decide to engage the world for Jesus Christ is a gamechanger for your life.

The 2011 FCA Camp season will be filled with outstanding competition and spiritual impact. Every camper will be encouraged to "unleash the power" spiritually and athletically as they spend time pursuing the goals set before them.

"I enjoyed everything about [FCA] Camp, but especially the fellowship with a group of great guys,” Jared, a student-athlete who attended Team Football Camp in Marianna, Florida, said. “However, I got something out of camp that I never expected … a new revitalized relationship with God. This new relationship is amazing, and I can't wait to see what it is going to do to my everyday life.”

This life-changing impact has been an integral part of FCA Camps since the first camp in Estes Park, Colorado in 1956. Fifty-four seasons later, FCA Camps are now reaching athletes and coaches throughout America and the world.
